Pastel baby shower cupcakes on a dessert table

As a guide, plan about one cupcake per guest when there is other food, and a little more when the shower is a dessert-led afternoon tea. Round up to whole boxes. Pick pink, blue or neutral depending on whether the baby's sex is known and shared. We deliver on weekdays only, so for a weekend shower, order for Friday delivery.

The numbers in this guide are rule-of-thumb planning advice, not data. Adjust them for your guest list, the time of day and whatever else is on the menu.

Working out the number

Start with your RSVP count and multiply by one. Then tweak it:

  • Lunch or brunch shower with plenty of savoury food: one cupcake per guest is usually enough, as some guests will be too full for dessert.
  • Afternoon tea shower, where sweets are the main event: as a guide, plan around one and a half per guest, or add a box of minis for grazing.
  • Kids attending: count them as guests. They hardly ever say no to a cupcake.

Our baby shower cupcakes come in a box of 12 (confirmed on our live collection pages), so round up to whole boxes.

Guests Lunch shower (about 1 each) Afternoon tea shower (about 1.5 each)
15 2 boxes of 12 2 boxes of 12
30 3 boxes of 12 4 boxes of 12
50 5 boxes of 12 7 boxes of 12

Leftovers aren't a bad thing. Send them home with the parents-to-be.

Pink, blue or neutral?

Colour is the fun part. The right choice comes down to what the family knows and wants to share:

If the shower is doubling as a gender reveal, that's a slightly different plan. Have a chat with us before you order.

Cupcakes, a cake, or both

Cupcakes make a shower easy. There's no cutting and no plates needed, and guests can grab one while they chat or watch the gifts being opened. A cake gives you a centrepiece for photos.

Lots of hosts do both, with a cake for the table and cupcakes for serving. If that's your plan, you can order a few fewer cupcakes. Browse our round cakes. Custom cakes need longer notice than a standard box of cupcakes, so contact us with your date and we will confirm.

Need help choosing flavours across the order? Our full cupcake range shows what is available.

Dietary needs (including pregnancy-related preferences)

We offer a vegan range, an eggless version of every flavour and gluten-free options, so it's easier to include guests with dietary needs. Order a separate, clearly labelled box for them.

Our products are made in a shared kitchen that handles gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts and other allergens, so cross-contact is possible. Our gluten-free options are made in that shared kitchen, not a gluten-free facility. Please read our allergen information page before ordering.

If you have questions about what the guest of honour can eat during pregnancy, please check with her or her care provider. We are not able to give medical or pregnancy food-safety advice.

Office baby showers

Celebrating a colleague at work? Office baby showers fit nicely with our weekday delivery. Order for the day of the shower if it is in the afternoon, or for the business day before if it is a morning tea. For a larger team, or if you'd like branded touches, see our office celebrations page and send us your headcount and date.

Got a birthday coming up too? Our birthday cupcakes follow the same simple ordering.

When to order and delivery

  • Order by 12 noon for next-weekday delivery after 2pm. After noon, the earliest delivery is the day after next.
  • Weekdays only. There is no Saturday, Sunday or public holiday delivery. For a weekend shower, order for Friday delivery, by Thursday 12 noon at the latest.
  • Larger, custom or cake orders need longer notice. Contact us with your date and we will confirm.
  • Where we deliver: across Melbourne Metro from our Narre Warren kitchen. Outside Melbourne Metro, contact us for a quote. See our Melbourne cupcake delivery page.
  • Policy: see our delivery policy.
  • Fees: delivery fees typically range from $0 to $20 depending on location.
  • Timing: delivery generally runs between 9am and 3pm, and next-day orders arrive after 2pm. We cannot guarantee a specific time slot, so for a morning event, delivery the business day before is the safer choice.

If your cupcakes arrive the day before, keep them in their closed box in a cool place, away from direct sun and heat, until the shower.

Frequently asked questions

How many cupcakes for 30 guests?

As a guide, three boxes of 12 for a lunch shower with other food, or around four boxes for a dessert-led afternoon tea.

Should baby shower cupcakes be pink, blue or neutral?

It depends on whether the baby's sex is known and the parents are happy to share it. If it is unknown or a surprise, neutral is the safe choice.

Can you deliver on Saturday or Sunday?

No. We deliver on weekdays only, with no Saturday, Sunday or public holiday delivery. For a weekend shower, order for Friday.

How far ahead should I order?

Order by 12 noon for next-weekday delivery after 2pm; after noon, the earliest is the day after next. Custom orders, cakes and large orders need longer notice, so contact us with your date and we will confirm.

Do you have gluten-free, vegan or eggless options?

Yes. We offer gluten-free options, a vegan range and an eggless version of every flavour. They are all made in a shared kitchen, not a gluten-free facility, so cross-contact is possible.

Do you deliver across Melbourne?

We deliver across Melbourne Metro. If you are outside Melbourne Metro, contact us for a quote.
